In our walk of faith as Children Ministy Directors we counceled and ministered to many children that had no father figure or their father had nothing to do with their children spiritual development. As we seek our Father to teach us how to be better fathers we find scripture that would help understand what pleases Him and what examples we have. I wrote some examples of the obedience of young sons and even at older age considered today as adults they obeyed their father and YHWH because of the way they desired to honor them.
Abraham had the priviledge to meet face to face with YHWH. YHWH himself made a comment about Abraham that showed that He is looking at us not just how we keep Torah, not just how spiritual we are and not just how we provide financialy. YHWH said for I could not hide from Abraham what I am doing? Concerning Sodom and Amorah, Sarah's pregnancy, and much more becuase He considered Him to be a prophet. Genesis 20:7a And now, return the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and let him pray for you and you live.
Genesis 18:19 " For I have known him, so that he commands his children and his household after him, to guard the way of YHWH, to do righteousness and right-ruling, so that YHWH brings to Abraham what He has spoken to him"
I pray that I can one day have the same atributes and YHWH can say that I also am doing good in His eyes as a head of my household under Him. We can say, but Abraham had only one son and brought it forth out of his wife. We can also say that Abraham had fears to loose his life because Sarah was beautiful and said twice that she was his sister.
Looking at the circumstances, YHWH had a good impression of Abraham as a head of his clan. He was father of many more children and held authrority over his servants and their households. We see how this was acomplished as he move from place to place and as everyone circumsised themselves at his instruction. This commanding over his children and household tells us that this was extended over the community of his clan.
As fathers and leaders among this small community of Torah Observants, servants and emisaries of Yahshua/Yeshua, Believers of the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Yaacob and His only Son Yahshua HaMachiach, ect. We must learn and help each other be example of beleivers and allow other men of integrity in YHWH's eyes of the community command our children when they see them act in ways that do not represent the values of the Torah family.
What I am trying to explain is that if our children are walking away from us to a distance that we can not oversee them anymore other can step in and speak to them about what things they are doing wrong and show them the righteous ways for a young man or woman should behave, dress and talk. When we step foot in community we need more eyes and share wisdom in this common ground of raising children for YHWH. If I can say something to your child that will make you look better as a father or mother through your household actions then you should have a apreciation to my advice to your child as a brother in the same community.
A dictionary definition of "community" = A body of people having common rights, privileges, or interests, or living in the same place under the same laws and regulations.
Sukkot- Feast of Tabernacles is the perfect place for us to practice. (Jews and Musslims in some areas mostly Ortodox will correct a person that is doing something outside their beleifs). Not saying this is right. In the right way to accomplish a communtiy like minded we should all be watchful of each others children and teach according to have a next generation that would be like minded. Example, If a family desides that their child is not to listen to secular music or a type of club music, the rest of the community should come together and see what is in common about secular music that a father can come and explain other children why we do not listen to secular music. And this should be accepted by other parents not seen as a crossing boundary or attack on your family becuase Community- Family -Like Minded should erase some of these boundaries to have community.
Proverbs 1:2-4 For Knowing wisdom and discipline, for understanding the words of understanding, for receiving the discipline of wisdom, Righteousness, right-ruling, and straightness; for giving insight to the simple, Knowledge and discretion to the young.
I can say that If you see my son doing something that might teach your child something that is not part of your the Biblical raising of your child please correct him and tell him to come to me and tell me why you corrected him. I will gladly appreaciate your inspection of the fruit under my abscense.
Proverbs 1:7-10 The fear (respect) of YHWH is the beginning of all knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline. My son, heed the discipline of your father, and do not forsake the Torah of your mother; for they are a fair wreath on your head, and chains about your neck. My son, if sinners entice you do not give in.
Proverbs 1:15 My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; for their feet run to evil, and they hurry to shed blood.
Shalom!
